It is very probable that Jacob T?nnesen Smed is the son of T?nnes Jochumsen, a blacksmith (smed) resident at "Pr?stedammen" (later called Smedeg?rd, 16 Slg.) in ?ker parish; T?nnes Jochumsen was the son of Jochum T?nnesen M?ller (died 1590) of Svaneke. Wife Marie's patronymic possibly Nicolaisdatter?
The church for ?kirkeby township and ?ker parish is located just outside of the township of ?kirkeby proper, so paradoxically enough the town that draws its name from the "River Church" (Aae Kirke) does not actually have a church within its municipal boundries at all. ?kirkeby was the traditional seat of Bornholm's judiciary authority, its "Landsting" (Parliament), and the Aae Kirke was used as their meeting place.
